Road conditions very slick due to rain/snow mixture this morning
BOISE, Idaho — Snowfall is lighter than previously predicted in the Treasure Valley this morning. However, the morning commute will still be very slick and slushy. Drive slow, be cautious and leave plenty of room for cars ahead of you when out on the roads this morning.
With temperatures staying at or above freezing this morning, much of the precipitation is turning from snow to rain as it touches the ground. Higher elevations are seeing more snowfall this morning, especially at elevations 5000 feet or above. Much of the precipitation will conclude around 9 a.m. and after we can expect partly cloudy skies for much of the day both in the mountains and valleys.
Much more snowfall is expected in the mountains over the weekend. The heaviest snowfall in the mountains is expected on Saturday. A winter storm watch is in effect for the central mountains and will be through Sunday evening. Areas below 4000 feet will see most of the precipitation turn to rain on Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be a wet weekend across much of Southern Idaho. We'll keep you updated each step of the way!
