Heavy rain today as the remnants of Hurricane Hilary climb the west coast

Publish date: 2024-07-05

We're in for near-record rainfall in some areas today. Hilary is causing storms along the west coast, and the moisture is moving into our region Monday morning.

A large amount of moisture is tracking toward southeastern Oregon. The heaviest rain will likely fall in Malheur, Baker and Harney counties and the West Central Mountains. There is a high chance of flooding, with near-record amounts of rain possible in those areas.

Winds will be significant across the Treasure Valley. Gusts could reach up to 40 mph in Boise this afternoon. Activity will continue into the evening. We could see some scattered thunderstorms roll across the valley.

These storms likely will not stick around as we head throughout the week. We may see more linger on Tuesday before sunny and dry conditions return on Wednesday.
