European American Restaurant "Susina" Opens in Boise
BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Husband and wife owners of Boise catering company 'Wild Plum' are starting their next journey asrestaurateurs. They describe their new restaurant Susina asEuropean American comfort food.
"Almost everything on the menu is made from scratch, from our dinner rolls to our olives we marinade, to our house made pickles, our pastas," said Susina co-owner Tara Morgan. "We really focus on making things by hand."
Wild Plum has been operating as a catering company since 2016.
"We moved into this place in 2018, it was mostly a space for us to do private events and use it as our catering kitchen. We've done a bunch of fun wine dinners and greenhouse dinners on our patio," said Morgan. "Then we've been working our way up to opening a restaurant and finally we're at that space but we're sticking with the prefix model, which means that there's four courses."
Susina offers a four course menu with a lot of variety. Each course comes with six options, including alternatives for those who need them.
"We have a ton of stuff for gluten free folks and we have a fair amount of vegan options as well," said Morgan. "We're pretty great at accommodating dietary needs, even if someone has something super particular, if they just let us know in advance, the kitchen can always take care of them."
At the moment, Susina is open Thursday through Saturday each week.
"We open at 6 pm and we go until the last person leaves. That's kind of our philosophy, we really focus on the European style of dining," said Morgan. "We're not a big place, it's really intimate, we aren't focusing on turning tables. We just want people to come in and enjoy a leisurely meal and not feel like they're rushed out the door."
Morgan and her husband, who is also Susina's head chef, are happy to combine their passions to bring quality food to fellow Idahoans.
"My background was as a food writer and then my husband was a chef, so when we got together, we kind of went the catering route for events, planning and that kind of thing and now it's fallen into place," said Morgan.
Susina currently has a capacity of ten tables, so reservations are encouraged. They are located at1621 N Orchard Street, Boise.
