Dog pool grand opening and rescue fundraiser happening Saturday

Looking for something fun to do with your pup this weekend? Potential Unleashed Dog Training and Behavior is holding a grand opening for its new dog pool in Kuna.

The grand opening and rescue fundraiser will include vendors, food, music, a silent auction, and a raffle. It will also raise money to support Friends Furever Animal Rescue, Moonsong Malamute Rescue, and PAWS Rescue, Inc. Some adoptable dogs will be available to meet.

Friendly dogs that do well on a leash are invited to try the dog pool for a free 10-minute swim. These free swims will be by household.

Brittni Heywood with Potential Unleashed said this has been a huge project in the making. “We needed a safe place for our dogs to get active and swim,” said Heywood. “Yes, I know we have creeks and rivers and lakes and ponds, but as dogs get older or young -- they don't have that skill set so there needed to be a place, and with the fitness side that I have, it just seemed like a good fit.”

The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The pool is located at 2735 E. Kuna Road. After the grand opening event, people can book swim lessons online for a fee.

“It’s a passion, it’s a love, and we’re just hoping everybody gets to enjoy it as much as we have been,” said Heywood.
