A Potential Jersey Shore Remake Has the OG Cast Speaking Out Celeb Secrets

Publish date: 2024-07-14

There’s no fist pumping here.

MTV announced it’ll be trading out the original GTL cast for a “2.0” version, and the Jersey Shore OG’s aren’t too happy about it.

The network described the new show on Wednesday (May 18) as, “a new group of roommates moving into their own Shore house. They may have traded their poofs for plumped pouts and UV rays for spray tans, but when things heat up in Jersey, the Shore is still the place to be to make memories all summer long.”

It’s been over a decade since the iconic cast, comprised of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Pauly D, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, Sammi Giancola and Angelina Pivarnick first stumbled onto the beaches of the Jersey Shore.

“It’s been 13 years since the iconic cast of Jersey Shore fist-pumped their way into our lives and stole our hearts,” the network wrote.

They drew in viewers with their crazy outfits and hairdo’s, i.e. the fur boots and the poof, their hilarious taglines like “the cabs are here!,” and their love for one another. It went on to break record after record, bringing in more viewers than any other MTV series in 2010 and 2011. It was also the number one cable telecast of 2010.

Once the show wrapped in 2012, there were multiple spin offs including Jersey Shore Family Vacation which is currently in its fifth season. MTV also created Floribama Shore, which ran for four seasons with no word on whether it’s coming back.

Despite there being many other spin offs across the world: Geordie Shore, Warsaw Shore, Rio Shore, the cast seems to be taking issue with the newest remake of the popular series.

They put out a joint statement saying “As a cast that took a chance with a network in need, we put our most vulnerable moments on television for the world to see. We gave our all over the past 13 years, became a family and continue to open our lives for the world.”

The statement continued to say they are not in support “of a version that will exploit our original show, our hard work and authenticity to gain viewers.”

It then ended with a plug for viewers to watching the all new season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation followed by the hashtag “#WeAreJerseyShore.”

MTV has not shared any other details about the reboot but we want to know what you think. Are you in support of a Jersey Shore 2.0? Or do you think they won’t be able to recreate what was built ten years ago? Let us know but sending a tweet to @celebsecrets.
