A just-graduated teenager of Meridian died Sunday morning after he rolled a truck over in the desert east of the Swan Falls dam, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office says the crash occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday morning. There were three teenage boys, including the driver, in a pickup truck reportedly leaving a graduation party in the desert.

A witness who called 911 told police they were driving east of the Swan Falls/Moore Road intersection when the 17-year-old lost control on a dirt desert road at a high rate of speed and then rolled the truck.

The driver was ejected. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt and later died from his injuries.

A 15-year-old boy was badly injured and was flown to a nearby hospital. Deputies say the other passenger, a 16-year-old boy, had non-life threatening injuries but was still driven to the hospital. Neither of them had their seatbelts on at the time of the crash.

There were other groups of teens near the crash and at the party site. The sheriff's office released those to their parents.

No identities have been released. No word on the first passenger's condition.

Deputies are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control.

A coroner report is expected to be released soon.

*This story was updated to show the driver was 17 years old, not 18.
